Standings Update – Post Run The Farm

Women’s Series Standings to date

Men’s Series Standings to date •

SIX races in the 2018 Trail Mix Series are compete! Only one more to go to make it a Lucky seven! (Raven Rocks Run – November 11)

There are 29 women who are currently eligible for scoring in the Trail Mix Series. Lindsey Felling has taken over the series lead with Louise Mullan just 0.04 points behind Lindsey in second place. Kelsey Crawford fell to third overall after Run The Farm, down by less than 1 point. Emily Bocklet is not far behind Kelsey in fourth overall. Katie Hulme is in fifth overall and is the first in the Juniors category. Of the top 5, Kelsey and Katie both have completed four races which is enough to be officially scored.

This tight race makes for some interesting scenarios: Each of the top 3 female runners has a chance to take it all at Raven Rocks by finishing above the other two. Kelsey can win the series by finishing higher than Lindsey and Louise. Lindsey can guarantee an overall win by beating Kelsey and Louise. And Louise can take it all with a win over Lindsey and Kelsey. It will be exciting to see who takes the prize! Kelsey has a chance to come back and win the series with an overall win at Raven Rocks and get the first ever perfect score. We only count the top 4 trail mix race finishes — and she will have five if she wins Raven Rocks enabling her to drop her lowest point score.

Deborah Young is leading in the F40 category with four races completed of the six run so far in the series. Kathy Lynch leads in the F50 category with four races completed. Michelle Stefanov leads in the F60 category.

Of special note — Cathy Nottage is the only woman to run all SIX of the Trail Mix Series races in 2018. Congratulations Cathy!

There are 77 men who are currently eligible for scoring in the Trail Mix Series.. Alexei Chernov has taken over the lead in the men’s Trail Mix Series. Matt Bedoukian is trailing by just under a point in second place. Jacob Benesch is third – and Jacob has run in all six of the 2018 Trail Mix Series races to date.

Guy Benn and Bill Bradsell have five and four races under their belts, respectively. Bill has won the M50 category each of the last two years and is trailed by Randolph2 and Paul Limmiatis. Guy is eading the M40 category, trailed by Mikhail YeremeevEdmund Dee, and Tom CurleyChristopher DeMuth III is leading the 13 & under division with Zachary Bertin on his heels.

Of special note — Christopher Dean, John Goodrow, Jacob Benesch, Paul Limmiatis, Gabriel Brecher, Charles Vaccaro, Paul Woolley, Christopher Demuth III, and Chris Demuth Jr have all run every Trail Mix Series race to date (six total) in 2018.

Extra special noteCharles Vaccaro has run in EVERY SINGLE TRAIL MIX RACE EVER! The series was started in 2014 and Charlie has done all twenty-seven races in that span including the six so far this year. He’s the only one with that streak. He is officially “Mr Trail Mix!”

There are two more races in the series — that means if you have run in at least two races in the series to date you can still finish the 2018 series! Of course you don’t need to run in the series to race in these trail races.

The final race in the series is the Raven Rocks Run on Sunday, November 11 at 9am. Hope to see you there!

Hope to see you on the trails!

Midsummer Trail Mix Check-In

Trail Mix Runners:

It’s around the midpoint of summer – we hope you are enjoying August!

With two races complete, we have updated the results to date for the Trail Mix Series here:

There is still plenty of time and races to catch up — and add to your total!

We have five exciting and challenging Trail Mix Series races coming in September, October, and November.

All races are Sunday mornings. Check the individual race website for place and time details. Click the register link next to the race above to get signup info.

To be eligible for the Trail Mix Series, you must complete at least four of the seven races (The Leatherman’s Loop and A Mild Sprain have already passed for 2018). If you have completed two already you just need two more! If you have run none so far, you can pick four out of five and still be In The Mix!

Bonus: If you complete the Trail Mix Series in 2018, you are guaranteed automatic selection upon your entry into the Leatherman’s Loop Lottery in January 2019. (Remember: you must enter the loop lottery to get in as a Trail Mix pre-selection!)

If you are looking for a group to train and run trails with, check our SundayRuns.org website. Even if you can’t make the Sunday 8am runs, there are always other options — plus tons of local trail maps with designated routes you can follow on your own.

There has never been a better time to be a trail runner in our area!

Hope to see you on the trails!

2017 Standings Update – 4 of 6 Races Complete!

Four of the six Trail Mix Series races are complete for 2017. Two more remain – Run The Farm (10/22) and Raven Rocks Run (11/12).

The updated 2017 Trail Mix Standings are online now (Women’s | Men’s) Each column is sortable and the categories and runner names are searchable.

Remaining races in the 2017 Trail Mix Series are:

These races are open for registration – sign up now using the links above.

178 runners — 50 women and 128 men have participated in at least two of the first four Trail Mix Series events so far in 2017!

With 4 of the 6 races complete, we have a much better picture of the series standings.

Kirby Mosenthal is leading the Women’s 2017 Trail Mix, just a hair ahead of Kelsey Crawford and Andrea MyersChelsea Ellis and last year’s Trail Mix winner Lindsay Obrig are close behind. Teren Block is sixth overall and the only woman to have completed all four 2017 Trail Mix races. There are 50 women with 2 or more races complete in the Trail Mix 2017.

Luis Francisco is leading the Men’s 2017 Trail Mix by just over a tenth of a point. Benjamin Hopkins is right on his tail with last year’s Trail Mix winner Virgil Bretz just behind him. Alexsei Chernov is in fourth and has completed all four Trail Mix races in 2017. David Hambleton is fifth and coming on strong. Newcomer Aaron Baldwin is in the mix at 6th place. There are 128 men with 2 or more races complete in the Trail Mix 2017.

DSC_0469-1This is our 4th Trail Mix series and we’re hoping to bring it to as many runners as possible!

If you ran in at least two of the Trail Mix races: Leatherman’s Loop, A Mild SprainWhere the Pavement Ends, or Sarah Bishop then you are listed in the Trail Mix 2017 standings. If you did not run at least 2 of these 4 races unfortunately you can’t complete the Trail Mix Series for 2017 — but you can still register for the remaining races!

Runners who complete the series in 2017 will get an automatic selection in the Leatherman’s Loop Lottery in January 2018 for the April 2018 Loop. If you are not in the mix for 2017, sign up to get our Trail Mix email updates to remind you of the series races in 2018!

If you see a problem in the results or standings, please let us know ASAP. The most common problems are name differences between races (e.g. Liz and Elizabeth, Jim and James, etc.) Considering nearly 1,700 different runners are being tracked at this point it is not possible for us to automatically match names in the standings database with these minor differences (we need to fix them by hand). It will help immensely if you pick a “race name” and stick to it for the series races when you register. Your race series volunteers appreciate the help! 😉 If you have already registered using a different name, we can change it if you let us know.

Come on out – We’d love to see you on the trails and in the Mix!

2017 Standings Update – 3 of 6 Races Complete!

Three of the six Trail Mix Series races are complete for 2017. Three more remain – including the Sarah Bishop Bushwhack this Sunday 9/24.

The updated 2017 Trail Mix Standings are online now (Women’s | Men’s) Each column is sortable and the categories and runner names are searchable.

Remaining races in the 2017 Trail Mix Series are:

These races are ALL open for registration – sign up now using the links above.
Nearly 1,700 runners — 605 different women and 1,087 different men have participated in at least one of the first three Trail Mix Series events so far in 2017!

DSC_0469-1This is our 4th Trail Mix series and we’re hoping to bring it to as many runners as possible!

If you ran in either the Leatherman’s Loop, A Mild Sprain, or Where the Pavement Ends then you are listed in the Trail Mix 2017 standings. If you did not run one of these 3 races unfortunately you can’t complete the Trail Mix Series for 2017 — but you can still register for the remaining races!

The benefits are multiple — even if you aren’t in the running to take your age category or the series: You get to hang out and race with some super (and modest) people. You get to visit and explore beautiful locations around Westchester and Fairfield Counties. And through trail racing you can connect back to nature in a way that road racing can’t match.

And if those reasons weren’t enough, there’s one more bonus: If you complete the series in 2017, you will get an automatic selection in the Leatherman’s Loop Lottery in January 2018 for the April 2018 Loop.

If you see a problem in the results or standings, please let us know ASAP. Standings Update – 4 down, 2 to go!

FOUR of the six Trail Mix Series races are complete for 2016. The updated 2016 Trail Mix Standings are online now (Women’s | Men’s). Each column is sortable and the categories and runner names are searchable.

Over 150 runners are “in the running” for completing the Trail Mix in 2016 — 52 different women and 112 different men have participated in at least two of the first four Trail Mix Series events so far in 2016!

DSC_0469-1Some leaders are beginning to emerge – for the women’s series, Chelsea Ellis is in the lead after winning two of her three races. Jennifer Morello has come on strong in the last two races with a second place finish at Pavement Ends and a first place finish at Sarah Bishop. Lindsey Obrig is a close third. Teren Block is the highest series competitor who has run all four races in 2016.

For the men’s series, Nicholas Roosa has won the last two races and vaulted into first overall with a perfect 100 average. Victor Da Costa Mendoza is second with a win in A Mild Sprain and a high finish in the Loop. They haven’t met head to head yet and it may come down to the last two races if they do. Luis Francisco, winner of the 2015 Leatherman’s Loop, is a close 3rd. Virgil Bretz is fourth and has run in every race in the 2016 series.

Any runners with four races completed have qualified for their automatic Leatherman’s Loop 2017 Lottery selection. Runners with three races complete need to finish either Run The Farm or Raven Rocks to qualify. Any runner with two Trail Mix races needs to finish both Run The Farm and Raven Rocks to qualify for the Trail Mix Series 2016.

The two remaining races in the 2016 Trail Mix Series are:

Both races are open for registration – sign up now using the links above.

More detail and links: If you ran in any TWO of the following races: the Leatherman’s Loop, A Mild SprainWhere the Pavement Ends, or the Sarah Bishop Bushwhack, then you are listed in the Trail Mix 2016 standings. If you did not run two of these four races unfortunately you can’t complete the Trail Mix Series for 2016 — but you can still register for the remaining races linked above. If you ran in two or more of the races and you are NOT listed, please get in touch so we can address the issue.

Come on out – We’d love to see you on the trails and in the Mix!

Congratulations on a series well run – and savor that automatic selection in the Loop Lottery as you enter it in January 2016!

2015 Trail Mix Series at Halfway Point

This past weekend, runners took to the woods of Ridgefield to run Where The Pavement Ends, the third of six races in the series. (In the spring the first two races in the Trail Mix Series were run: Leatherman’s Loop and A Mild Sprain.) Where The Pavement Ends added even more runners to the historic series, bringing the total eligible to over 1,500 runners.

The Sarah Bishop Bushwhack is in September.
The Sarah Bishop Bushwhack is in September.

Karen Haitoff, last year’s Trail Mix women’s champ, took over the lead in the female category with her performance in Where The Pavement Ends.  Jerre Skeats is second overall, around 8 points back. She leads in the F40 category. Mary Ann Cox (F50 leader), Judi DiMuro, and Tiffany Carson (M20) round out the top 5.

Sydney Bieber (13U), Erin Lindon (F20), Brooke Nohilly (FJr), Elaine Dill (F60), and Shirley Iselin (F70) lead in their respective categories. Some of the age categories are wide open with only one race completed in FJr, F60, and F70.

Gerry Sullivan took first overall male in the latest race. Combined with his stellar finishes in the first two races this puts him in first place in the men’s division with Charles Glass just a single point behind and leading the M40 category. Todd Henrich and Eamonn Sullivan (Gerry’s son) are just a few points behind them. Eamonn leads in the 13U category. Mike Paletta rounds out the top 5 overall men.

Lee Willett leads in the M50 category with other leaders Michael Diblasi (M20), Stephen England (M30), Charlie Stewart (MJr), James McGough (M60), Tony Godino (M70), and John Young (M80) all tops in their categories.

Current Trail Mix points standings can be found here:

For the Trail Mix Trail Series there are three more races to go at this time:

To compete in the series, you need to complete four of the six races. If you complete more than four, we only take your best four races so you can potentially eliminate your lowest point score. At this point you need to have at least one run completed in order to compete in the series for 2015.

Runners who complete the series by completing at least 4 of 6 Trail Mix races are eligible for automatic selection in the Leatherman’s Loop 2016 Lottery in January 2016. With the Loop celebrating its 30th year, this will be a hot ticket!

Scoring is done using a points system which is described here.

If you have any questions about the series, email us at trailmixseries@gmail.com.

See you on the trails!
